Intangible heritage: International Women’s Day /// Immaterieel erfgoed: Internationale Vrouwendag

Another type of intangible heritage: International Women’s Day. Every year on the 8th of March a majority of the world focuses on the role of women in all parts of our society and how we can improve their presence there more and more each year.[dt_gap height=»10″ /]

Next year, in 2022, it will be 75 years since the first national agreement was finalized in order to oblige countries to emphasize the development of equal rights each year, by starting a national day. It was called the “United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace“. The 8th of March was chosen based on the 1909 protests of women in Russia: they protested for “Bread and Peace“ on the last Sunday of February, which was the 8th of March in the Gregorian calendar.[dt_gap height=»10″ /]

This month of September it has been 6 months since the 8th of March was generously celebrated here in the Canary Islands. And in another 6 months we will once again celebrate this day abundantly.[dt_gap height=»10″ /]

At Crowplan we try to create projects each year through which we can support women in their cultural careers: by giving them a stage and a voice, to make them more visible. Currently, we aim to achieve these goals with our project this fall in Fuerteventura at La Casa de Los Coroneles: “Los Muros Invisibles“. In this project we investigate which ‘invisible walls’ could still be on the path of equality for all women in their lives, careers and their place on this planet.[dt_gap height=»10″ /]

Elke jaar op 8 maart richt een meerderheid van de wereld zich op de rol van vrouwen in alle delen van onze samenleving en hoe wij hun aanwezigheid daarin elk jaar kunnen verbeteren. [dt_gap height=»10″ /]

Volgend jaar, in 2022, is het 75 jaar geleden dat een eerste nationale afsrpaak werd gemaakt tussen landen om ieder jaar de ontwikkeling van gelijke rechten te blijven benadrukken. De eerste nationale dag werd hiervoor afsrpoken en heette: “Verengide Naties Dag voor Vrouwenrechten en Internationale Vrede”. De 8e maard werd gekozen vanwege de protesten uit 1909 van vrouwen in Rusland: zij protesteerden op de laaste Zondag van Frebruari voor ‘Brood en Vrede”, wat de 8e maart was in de Gregorische kalender.[dt_gap height=»10″ /]

In deze maand September is het een half jaar geleden dat de 8e maart hier op de Canarische Eilanden uitgebreid gevierd werd. En in nog eens een half jaar is het tijd om de 8e maart wederom uitbundig te vieren.[dt_gap height=»10″ /]

Bij Crowplan proberen we jaar in jaar uit projecten te organiseren waarin we vrouwen kunnen steunen in hun culturele carrières: door hen een podium en stem te geven, door ze zichtbaarder te maken. Op dit moment proberen we deze doelen te bereiken met ons project deze herfst op Fuerteventura in het Casa de Los Coroneles: “Los Muros Invisibles” (De onzichtbare muren). In dit project onderzoeken we welke ‘onzichtbare muren’ mogelijk nog in de weg staan voor gelijke rechten voor alle vrouwen in hun privéleven, carrières en hun plek op deze planeet.[dt_gap height=»10″ /]
